Richard “Rick” Welch, Jr. has been in the information technology, software development and health care industry for over 28 years. Rick’s vast knowledge of technology solutions, management and business principles has allowed him to lead the professional team at Spark Technologies.

Before starting Spark Technologies, Rick was the Management Information Systems Director, CTO for Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group, managing all aspects of technology for WHRG’s portfolio of services, network infrastructure, security, strict regulatory and corporate compliance procedures as it relates to the health care industry. Rick also held his Nursing Home Administrator License in the State of Massachusetts.

Rick was also a Principal at Advanced Marketing Services, a software development firm specializing in Web Based Multiple Listing Service Applications for the Real Estate Industry, and he started a Web Development and IT Consulting company called Welnet Technology Solutions in 1995, which is still active today.

Rick is a graduate of Stonehill College with a BA in Health Care Administration and Business. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) with Advanced Internet, A+ Certified and a frequent advisor and speaker at many Technology and Health Care Conferences and Network Groups. He is active in local business organizations such as The South Shore Chamber of Commerce, BNI Prime Professionals and The South Shore Business Professional Network. Just recently he was elected to serve on The Board of Corporators for Coastal Heritage Bank.

When he’s not leading his team of IT professionals in the office, Rick is leading vocals and guitar solos for two bands The Waves and Three Hour Tour. He is also a passionate musician and multiple instrumentalist since Elementary School. When Rick is not on the stage, he is on the ice as a long time goaltender and still backstops several teams in Men’s Hockey Leagues across the south shore. Other interests are Golf, Tennis, movies, tech gadgets and guitar collecting.
